Flow monitoring
GPM, GPD and peak flow: three different views of water
Why a momentary flow rate and a daily total tell different stories—and why both belong in an operating view.

Start with the unit
Gallons per minute (GPM) expresses a flow rate. Gallons per day (GPD) expresses flow on a daily basis. A meter's instantaneous GPM reading is not, by itself, the day's measured total. Keep the unit and the measurement interval attached to every reading.
A daily total can hide a short peak
Two days with similar total volumes can have very different flow patterns. Reviewing trends alongside daily totals helps an operator see when a short-duration peak occurred. AquaFlow brings flow readings and longer-term charts into the same facility view.
Set limits for the actual meter
A useful peak-flow rule belongs to a specific site and measurement point. Confirm the meter location, units and approved operating limits before activating alerts. AquaFlow evaluates configured active rules rather than substituting a universal threshold.
Keep the measurement traceable
Record the sample time, source and location. When a reading is entered manually, preserve who entered it. That context helps the next operator distinguish a live measurement, a laboratory result and an older observation.
